JP LAB (제이피랩, “we”) publishes this privacy policy for the iPhone app Gildam (the “App”) under the Korean Personal Information Protection Act, the Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, and related laws. It applies to App Store version 1.1 and internal TestFlight builds.
Summary
- Video, audio, and location records made by the App stay on your iPhone. They are never sent to us, and we run no server for the App.
- No sign-up, login, advertising, or analytics or tracking SDKs.
- To show maps and addresses, location coordinates are sent to Apple's map services, which Apple processes.
- We only receive personal information when you email us, or when Apple passes on diagnostics you chose to share.
1. Principle
The App records drives to your device and lets you review them. Most information is processed only on your device, and we do not collect, view, or keep it. Section 2 describes on-device processing for transparency; it is not information we collect.
2. Information processed on your device
| Information | Use | Stored in | Permission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drive video | Recording, playback, saving and sharing ranges | App storage on the device | Camera (required) |
| Audio | Recording sound in the car with the video | Inside the video file | Microphone (optional) |
| Location | Start and end points, route, recorded speed, mark locations | The App's drive history on the device | Location while using the App (optional) |
| Marks | Remembering moments in the original video | The App's drive history on the device | None |
| Settings | Quality, orientation, dimming, auto cleanup | Device | None |
- The App does not record or receive location in the background. Recording and marking work without location.
- The App only adds the videos you choose to Photos and does not read your library (add-only permission).
- Permissions are used only if you allow them, and can be changed any time in Settings > Gildam.
- If you run “Mark” with Siri or Shortcuts, iOS passes the request to the App. Apple handles voice processing; we never receive your voice.
3. When information leaves your device
| When | What is sent | To |
|---|---|---|
| Showing maps | Location of the visible map area | Apple map services (MapKit) |
| Showing place names and addresses | Coordinates of that point | Apple location services (Core Location geocoding) |
| Saving to Photos or sharing | The video range you choose | Photos, or the app or person you choose |
| Drives archived to iCloud by earlier test builds | Archived original video and route and mark records | Your own iCloud Drive |
- Apple's map and location services are Apple services you use through iOS, not processors we appointed. Apple's privacy policy applies.
- Exported videos do not contain location data. A date and time overlay may be added depending on your settings.
- iCloud archive: turned off in version 1.1. Drives archived by earlier internal test builds are downloaded from your iCloud Drive when played, and deleting such a drive in the App also deletes the iCloud copy. We cannot access your iCloud.
4. Information we process
| Context | Items | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email inquiries | Required: email address, message Optional: name, iPhone model, iOS and app version, screenshots or videos you attach | Answering, investigating issues | One year after handling |
| Diagnostics from Apple | Crash logs, performance data, device model, iOS version (if you turned on “Share with App Developers” in iPhone Settings) | Fixing bugs, improving stability | App Store Connect retention |
| Aggregate statistics from Apple | Installs, device types, and other aggregated data that cannot identify you | Operating the App | App Store Connect retention |
| TestFlight testers | Name, email address, feedback and screenshots you send | Running internal tests | Until the test ends or you are removed |
We do not use this information for advertising or tracking, and we do not try to identify individuals from diagnostics. You can turn off diagnostics sharing in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
5. Location information
- If you allow it, the App receives your location only while you use the App, to record routes and mark locations.
- Location records are stored only in the drive history on your device. We do not collect, use, or share them, and we cannot know your location.
- They are deleted from your device when you delete the drive or the App.
- Gaps in location are never filled in by guessing.
6. Third parties, processors, and transfers abroad
- Third parties: we do not provide your personal information to third parties.
- Processors and transfers: the App itself uses no processors appointed by us. Email inquiries are received and stored by Google LLC (Google Workspace, United States and elsewhere), as detailed in sections 5 and 6 of the JP LAB privacy policy. Distribution, diagnostics, and TestFlight run through App Store Connect, operated by Apple Inc.
7. Retention and deletion
- Videos and records stay on your device until you delete them. Deleting a drive removes its video and records; deleting the App removes all App data on the device.
- If you turn on auto cleanup (off by default), the oldest drives are deleted when storage runs low.
- Information we process is deleted without delay, so it cannot be recovered, after the retention period in section 4.
8. Your rights
You can view, export, and delete the videos and records on your device directly in the App. We do not hold that data, so we cannot view or delete it for you. For information we process (section 4):
You may at any time ask us to:
- let you access your personal information,
- correct it if it is wrong,
- delete it, and
- stop processing it, or withdraw your consent.
Email founder@jplab.site. We act on requests within 10 days and tell you the result. A legal representative or someone you authorize may also make a request with a power of attorney. We will confirm that the request comes from you or your authorized representative. Some requests may be limited where another law requires us to keep the information, as provided in Articles 35(4) and 37(2) of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
9. Security
- The App keeps videos and records in storage that iOS isolates for each app. With a device passcode, iOS Data Protection encrypts it.
- The App has no feature that sends data to our servers, and no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs.
- Only the representative can access information we process, using account protections such as strong passwords.
10. When you record
- With audio on, conversations in the car may be recorded. Tell your passengers. Secretly recording conversations between other people is prohibited under Korea's Protection of Communications Secrets Act.
- Videos may show other people's faces, license plates, and other personal information. Follow the law and respect others' rights when sharing or posting them.
- Do not operate the App while driving.
11. Children
The App is not directed to children under 14 and does not collect their personal information. If a child under 14 contacts us, we confirm consent from a legal guardian first.
12. New features
We plan a feature that uses the Claude API to draft a report from scenes you choose. It is not in the App today. Before releasing it or any other feature that sends information off the device, we will update this policy, show in the App what will be sent, and send it only when you ask.
